DV-2023 Diversity Lottery: Results Released
18 July 2022—The Diversity Visa Lottery is a congressionally mandated program providing 55,000 individuals with immigrant visas to the U.S. Lottery winners and their dependent family members may be eligible to obtain Green Cards and become permanent legal residents of the U.S.
The DV-2023 Diversity Lottery results were released on 8 July 2022 in the U.S. Department of State August 2022 Visa Bulletin. Entries for DV-2023 increased by more than 2 million, as compared to DV-2022 entries, but the overall number of entries still fell far below the average number of previous years’ prior to the implementation of the passport requirement.
Approximately 119,000 entrants were selected worldwide from over 9.5 million qualified entries for further processing. There were a total of 17 selected entries between Ireland and Northern Ireland, ten less than last year’s results, and the lowest ever count selected from the island of Ireland ever.
Take note, the Department of State DOES NOT notify successful entrants via letter or email. Entrants must check their entry status online at: dvprogram.state.gov by providing:
· Entrant confirmation number (received at time of filing)
· Full name
· Year of birth
Processing of immigrant visas for those selected under the DV-2023 lottery will begin on 1 October 2022 and must be completed by 30 September 2023.
It is important to remember that not everyone who is selected in the lottery will receive a green card, and third party agents cannot increase chances of a positive outcome. BEWARY of fraudulent companies that may try to take advantage of immigrants for monetary gain. For further information see:

An official announcement regarding the entry period for DV-2024 Diversity Lottery is expected in the coming months. The entry period typically opens in October for 30 days. The Coalition will share information as it is available. We continue to encourage those that are eligible and wish to emigrate to the United States to apply.
As of this year, the Department of State will remove the passport requirement that had been in effect the previous three years. Entrants will no longer need to have a current valid passport to reference in their entry.
